 Chon-Jl - "Heaven and Earth" which In the orient symbolizes the creation of the world or the
                  beginning of human history. Containing 19 moves.


Tan-Gun - Named after the legendary hero who was said to have
                  founded Korea In 2334 B.C.


Toe-San - The pseudonym of the great Korean patriot and
                 educator, Ahn Ch'ang Ho (1876-1938).


Won-Hvo - Named after the noted monk who introduced Buddhism to
                   the Silla Dynasty in 686 A.D.


Yul-Kok - The pseudonym of the great philosopher and scholar, Yi I (1536-1584), who Is also
                known as the "Confucius of Korea".


Chung-Gwen - Named after the patriot, An Chung Gwen. The 32 steps represent the age at
                        which he was martyred in prison in 1910.


Ti-Gye - The pen name of the noted scholar, Yi Hwang, an authority on neo-Confuclanism. The
              37 steps of this form refer to his birthplace on the 37**' degree latitude.


Hwa-Rang - Named after the Hwa-Rang Do youth group originating during the Silla dynasty
                    about 1350 years ago and becoming one of the driving forces behind the unification
                    of the three kingdoms of Korea.  The Hwa-Rang lived by 5 codes of conduct:
                    1.  Loyalty to the King.
                    2.  Loyalty to your parents.
                    3.  Loyalty to your comrades in arms.
                    4.  No unnecessary killing.
                    5.  No retreat on the field of battle.  

Choong-Moo - The name of a great admiral, Yi Sun Sin, of the Yi Dynasty, who was reputed to
                    have invented the first armored battleship in 1592 A.D. The left hand attack ending t
                    he form symbolizes his unfortunate death in battle before he was able to
                    demonstrate his complete loyalty to the King.


Chul-Gi - Originally a Japanese form, it is a popular pattern among Korean stylists as well and
                thus Included in this text. The name literally means "Iron Horse" (number one), which 
                indicates the force with which the form should be done and the horse stance used throughout.


Gwang-Gae - The name of the famous Kwang Gye To Wang, 19*^ King of the Koguryo Dynasty
                      who reigned the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria.
                      The 39 steps indicate his reign of 39 years.


Basai - This is originally a Japanese form. The name means "To break through the fortress",
            indicating the power demonstrated in this pattern.


Sip Soo (jet-ta) - Ten hands - a person who masters this form could fight as if they had ten hands.

Po-Eun - Korean scholar and public serving known for his loyalty to the king.

Choi-Young - A Korean Army General and Royal confidant at the end of the Koryo Dynasty.  His motto, left to him by his father was "Don't be covetous of gold."  He was also a man of great integrity.

Ge Baek - Korean general who chose death before dishonor

Yoo-Sin - An army general of the Shilla Dynasty who felt the dynasties should not be separate countries and united the three dynasties of Ko-Ku-Ryo, Bak Jai, and Shilla.  He fought and defeated the forces of the Dang Empire removing them from Shilla.
